COO Dirk Braunschweig to Leave Senior Management of Trei

Dirk Braunschweig, COO of Trei Real Estate, will leave the company’s leadership team at his own request by the end of February 2019. After a seven-year stint as COO of Trei and a total of 38 years with the Tengelmann group of companies, Braunschweig will leave the company for his well-deserved retirement. His responsibilities will be taken over by the remaining managing directors, Pepijn Morshuis (CEO) and Matthias Schultz (CFO).

Pepijn Morshuis commented: “On behalf of the employees of Trei and the entire Tengelmann group of companies, we would like to thank Dirk Braunschweig most cordially for his outstanding services and his tireless commitment. At the same time, we would like to wish him all the best for the future, especially good health.”

Braunschweig’s signature projects during his time at Trei included, inter alia, the successful integration of the partners’ German real estate portfolio into the holdings of Trei, combined with the professionalisation of the commercial and technical property management, the introduction of the SAP RE FX real estate management software in all major national subsidiaries, the set-up of a modern-day asset management and the restructuring of the international portfolio.
“Another milestone for our company was the first property development of the student housing asset class under the Quartillion brand in Cologne whose design Braunschweig helped to mastermind. He definitively contributed to the company’s success of recent years,” Morshuis went on to say.

Dirk Braunschweig looks back with contentment: “My time with Trei was characterised by strategic realignment and dynamic growth. I am glad to have served the company in this effort and would like to express my gratitude for the trust-based and sound collaboration.”

Prior to his job with Trei, Braunschweig served as board member and managing director with a number of member companies of the Tengelmann group, including the supermarket chain Kaiser’s Tengelmann that was sold in 2016. In early 2012, he transferred to the real estate subsidiary as Managing Director and was put in charge of the operating activities.

The remaining board members, Morshuis and Schultz, are backed by a second management tier consisting of four senior executives. These include Marika Szignar, the Head of Asset Management, Ruth Meister, the Head of Property Development and Construction, René Westerheider, the Head of Transactions and Christian Grimm, the Head of Controlling.
