Trei Real Estate GmbH (Trei) with ongoing expansion in Poland. The property development and portfolio manager for residential and commercial properties operating across Europe has opened a retail park in Dąbrowa Górnicza close to Katowice and Krakow in Southern Poland. The property was developed by Trei and is to remain in the company’s portfolio on a long-term basis. The retail park is to be operated under the Vendo Park brand. Trei invested a total of approximately EUR 9.2 million in the property which has a total rental space of 7,255 square metres. The main tenant is Biedronka, the largest Polish food retailer. Other well-known tenants are TEDi (non-food), Action (non-food), KiK (textiles), Hebe (drugstore), JYSK (home furnishing), Martes Sport (sport articles) and four others. This is the first TEDi store in Poland. The Vendo Park can be reached directly from one of the city’s main thoroughfares, Katowicka Street.
Pepijn Morshuis, CEO Trei Real Estate, comments: “Expanding our portfolio of Polish retail parks is moving forward rapidly. The Dąbrowa Górnicza property is already the eighth Vendo Park being operated in Poland. Poland offers great potential for retail parks as there is a considerable shortfall in small and medium-sized cities. We plan to develop more Vendo Parks and to hold them on a long-term basis.”
Dąbrowa Górnicza has a population of approximately 123,000 and is in the direct vicinity of Katowice and Krakow. The city is an important location for manufacturing and industry, with approximately 12,000 companies having sites there, including the largest Polish steel mill, ArcelorMittal Poland.
Currently the Trei portfolio has 17 Vendo Parks in Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia, with ten other centres currently being developed. Morshuis continues: “Our aim is to have a portfolio of approximately 50 retail parks.”
Just recently Trei Vendo Parks opened in Skierniewice and Łódź (both in Łódź) and Świdnica (Lower Silesia).
Under the Vendo Park brand, Trei Real Estate plans, builds and operates retail parks in Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia. The first Vendo Park in Poland was opened in Nysa in 2013. Today the locations are Chełm, Milanówek, Mińsk Mazowiecki, Skierniewice, Łódź, Świdnica and more recently Dąbrowa Górnicza. In addition to developing retail parks, in Poland Trei Real Estate manages more than 100 commercial properties in which the food retailer Biedronka operates.
